A Moveable Feast
-Ernest Hemingway
I purchased this book at Shakespeare & Co. on the first day I arrived in Paris. I rented a flat in the St. Germain area (Rue de Conde), and knowing the strong connection between Hemingway and the 6th arrondissement, I thought what a perfect time to read this book, and get to see and experience first-hand the area and quiet streets referred to in this memoir during the time Hemingway lived in Paris with his first wife, Hadley, and first child, Bumby. I was also interested in reading about his earlier friendships with other famous writers living in Paris at the time as well, such as Scott Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein, James Joyce, and Ezra Pound, to name a few.

Update:
As time went on Paris grew on me, tremendously.

my sister loved paris but felt that italy was actually more romantic! i am sort of against going there specifically because every blogger & girl on earth has that same dream of going there- and being french, even if they're not! annoying! there must be better places to go. but i did read a moveable feast after seeing the movie midnight in paris, and thought that it was fun to learn more about hemingway's relationships as well!

See, to me that's cool. Not everyone has to fall head over heels in love with Paris. Don't get me wrong, it's grown on me more since this review, but I had a different idea of Paris. I idealized it and romanticized it to death.
The book is good, though. It's really the kind of Paris we all wish still existed.
